Default stevens model 77c problem

i recently picked up a stevens/savage model 77c i took it all apart and cleaned it all because the bolt was sticking closed and was a bit*& to pump a new one in to the chamber

after cleaning everything all up and putting a lite coat of oil on things that need it .. its still sticking closed maybe even worse now that its clean...

is there anyone familiar with this shotgun, that can tell me what part i need to replace or clean better?

help would be greatly appreciated..

Travis

A Savage 77? You just need to replace the gun...

I had a Savage 77 pump that was very untrustworthy and a total pain in the butt to clean. Not learning my lesson, I also bought a Savage 170 pump rifle (based on the 20 gauge Model 77 action) and had the same problems, although I figured out how to completely tear the 170 down. Both guns were more trouble than they were worth. I bought them cheap and sold them cheaper.

I'd rather have a Mossberg bolt action or even a single shot than a Savage 77.

HAVING SAID THAT - The US used them a bit in 'Nam, so they can get the job done.
