trip to Hanna
My son and I have a trip to Hanna next Friday . From Calgary ( NW ) Out and back .
Pretty much a strait forward trip , but being winter, I just thought I'd ask .
I looking for information on anything involved in that trip . ie; travel time ,best route , ( I assume # 9 ) this time of year I would expect to stay on the Hiways ,and anything else that would be good to know .
Ethan also wants to stop in at the gun range in Drumheller if time permits , so anything you can tell me on that , would also be appreciated .
Thanks RBI

Don't want to sound rude, but you don't get out of the city much do you?
Google map the town for route and time. Basically I take back roads (past cross iron, bieseker, turn up towards carbon, right on whatever highway that is and a straight shot to Hanna. You can also take the alternative of going through Drumheller. Sounds like you might want to see if it not experienced with many places outside Calgary. Tyrrel Museum?
Either way, have fun. It's a boring drive.

Hanna was my fuel up and food up halfway point for my Suffield hunts. A&W, Subway, Couple gas stations, Husky with Convenience store, Petro Pass, in case you were wondering.

Neither are from Hanna. kd lang was #33 on the list of top 100 rock and roll females in 1999.
Clark grew up in the Hat and Lang grew up in Consort.
I had the misfortune of working with her on the CMA awards on the left coast.
Nickleback is from Hanna. Justin Bieber is not.
The drive to Hanna is pretty uneventful. Stop in Delia for coffee and ask about the bank robbery in 2000. When you get to Hanna go to the coal fired plant and lake at Sheerness. It won't be there for long, as the NDP phase out coal fired electricity. That is also the reason for the boarded up store fronts in Hanna, I suspect.

Oh , sorry , didn't mean to make it sound like I was a newbie to getting out of Calgary , or anything like that , been to/through the Dino land a few times , never been to Hanna though.
I was just basically looking for info on travel time , and anything , any regular traveler can tell me about general winter road conditions ( watch out on such and such stretch of road , it typically gets real icy , or whatever.

To add a little scenery to an otherwise very boring trip, route yourself through Dorothy and across on the 570 to 36. Chances are you will see a bunch of Mulies on the 570

GF's parents are originally from Monitor. They make a big deal out of both musicians. I assumed everyone in the area did. My mistake.

If it isn't snowing you're looking at maybe 2 hours and a bit, the worst part of the drive is on highwy 9 by Delia, it seems the snow is always blowing there. As red said Delia has a nice coffee shop, unfortunately Hanna is going to shrink significantly once the mine and power plant shut down. Also in my opinion the Chinese food place is the best food in town. Have a good trip!

Nailed it. A good show for sure.
The shark may be correct about the Chinese restaurant,as it's been years since I ate there. There's a reason for that. lol.
My daughter lives in Hanna and we eat at Hanna steak house on the main street.
Years ago there was a great burger joint there, but it's long gone now. I think it was called the Red Frog.LOL.

FYI that was the second time the CIBC was robbed in a short period of time. The first time the would be thieves were definitely Darwin award candidates. The second time turned into quite a rodeo. I knew all parties involved both times.....gotta love small town living
