We just got back from fishing in BC for white sturgeon. The fishing was much slower this year with our boat only landing 3 sturgeon, compared to 19 last year. Still a great place fish and a great way to end the open water season.
This one was about 4.5 ft long
Sweet,,, bobalong,, nice fish thx for the pic.. I hate those west coast pics this time of year,, makes it hard to stay put especially when spring is so far off...
I was out on the Harrison last week, mostly flyfishing for chums, but we did throw a few roe bags to the bottom one afternoon looking for Sturgeon. We landed 2- one 5 footer, and a real nice, heavy 6.5 footer.
Unreal how these things fight! I will definately be going out there again.
We fished the Harrison in the morning (only a few taps) and the Fraser in the afternoon. We just kept moving and then the last spot, we caught all three in about 1-1/2 hours. Guides had a few theories about the slow bite, late run of salmon, meant a lot of food in the river later in the year, almost flood conditions in the early fall moved the fish from the normal spot.
