Default Gun Show Find

Snagged an interesting specimen while at the gun show.

More interesting is the other side of the box.

Looks like they were manufactured 54 years ago by Kynoch.
All confirmed by the headstamp.

Certainly interesting ammunition.

I probably won't ever shoot this stuff, I'll just vac seal it and let the kids find it when I'm much older.

I have some of the similar stuff, could be the same company name, I think mine is 1941 or 1943 ,

The box is tapered shape and kept shut with original sticky tape on one end,

Gotta question this "exclusively" bit.

I have the identical box, but mine says Made Exclusively for Churchill Gun Makers, Orange Street gun Works, followed by a London address. Son found them in an old truck, in pretty rough shape, but they still fire.

I found some interesting "vintage" ammo myself, recently. The 218 Bee stuff is not cheap !

I didn't purchase the ammo though, merely saw it on Clay's website...

One vendor at the GP show had several boxes of vintage ammo, some really old.
There may have been others. I didn't get much chance to look around, it was busy most of the day, all three days.

I did see several old rifles as well, including a couple of Carcano's, I didn't thing anyone would even want to sell them these days.

I'm betting this stuff isn't nearly as old or rare as one might think. 174 grains is the weight of the British service projectile and we're looking at repurposed surplus military ammo. A whole industry developed in the 50's and 60's where well known British gun makers got into the business of civilizing military assets.

The Vintage soft point .303 ammo in my cabinet is head stamped with manufacture dates, as is the .303 soft point ammo by the OP in this thread

Having fired some if my vintage .303 soft point ammo dated 19(41) , 19(43) the cases do NOT have military primer crimps,,, and are not Berdan primed ( corrosive military)
so not likely " repurposed military ammo ,,,

No, granular powder of some sort. Berdan primed. Mine is head stamped 67 and K, which I assume means it was made in 1967, by Kynoch, major British ammunition maker.
