Default Sled Trip

Well we packed up all the gear and sleds and decided to hit a few sled in lakes up North. I had a some buddies with me ( edubjigsta, exxtor, and dinner_duramax)so what could go wrong. The weather was on our side thats for sure. Sat we hit a lake near wabaska and did ok. Iced a pike or two and an eye about 6 lbs. We took off around 1 and headed to another lake. The bite was slow but consistent. Managed to put 10 or 12 on the ice before dark. Needless to say we where eating fish that night. Went back to the Athabasca area where we were staying in the outfitters tent. In the morning we headed off to go fish the 2 feeder lakes for Cross. It was a short sled ride in. We searched all over francis and couldn't even get a signal on the flasher. When we drilled the lake smelled terrible. We think it was dead. So we packed up and headed to Banana. Searched all over the lake and couldn't get a signal on the flasher either. Since we where looking for perch that day we decided to pack up and headed to good ol' Nakamin on our way home. Hit the lake @ 3 and fished till 6. The bite was on for sure. Coulda went home with limit but 5 each was enough for us. Lots of fun! Great trip!

With the winter we have had, all the flood water and the wacky weather, it has started to take its toll on the ice. With this warm stretch coming up I'd be careful driving on to the ice unless you have a sled. Alot of garbage ice out there people! 20" of ice doesn't mean alot when 15" are slush. FYI
