Default head turn in

Just shot a nice buck in wmu 148. Correct me if I am wrong but the regs sate it is mandatory to turn in the head. Can I take the antlers off first? . Whats the time line? Do I bring it to the local fish and game office?

Thanks

The answers to all your questions are on page 29 and 68 of the Hunting regulations.

i do belive there is another part in the spine or neck that they can use to do the testif you wanted to keep the head check with SRD though. most butcher shops in the areas have CWD deposit boxes outside of the shop

Yes you can take the antlers and skullplate off (they want the back of the throat, lower jaw, and part of the skull that has the spinal cord/brain connection). Not sure about a timeline. You can drop it off at the freezers they have set out in a bunch of places, just check the map in the regs. If you are in 148 they have freezers in medicine hat I believe. Not sure where specifically though.

Congrats on your deer. Pictures?
