Default Mice moved into my boat

Was in the garage and going over the boat when I noticed some chewed up paper on the floor, it was my regs book. Hmmm doesn't take a genius to figure out I've got a problem!! I grabbed a flashlight and poked my head into the transom port (unscrewed large cap) to have a look around and found a huge nest beside my bilge pump and a food cash up in my bow! I'm going to grab one of those electronic deterrents and plug off ports with steel wool and put some dryer sheets around, I think they have been climbing up my drain plug and getting in that way. Hope all the wiring is still good. I took today off so I can take care of this, got an assortment of PVC pipe that fits the vacuum, off to clean up the nest.

Buy the green cubes of poison and spread them around, they will die off.

Hide all their life jackets. Irish spring soap works good too.

A friend of mine does this, he swears by it, having his boat stored in a quanset.

He puts a little portable radio in his boat, leaves it on a all-talk station and replaces the batteries when needed. He said he has never seen any evidence of a mouse in his boat since. 9 years now. Before that, he would be invaded by them every winter

Had that happen to an old boat of mine. Filled it full of water for about 15 minutes, then drained it. No more mice.

I always put Irish spring soap under the hood of my sleds during the off season and have had them chew on the soap but nothing else.

My neighbor lifted the tarp off his boat to check it out and there was a feral cat living in the boat....nursing a bunch of kittens.

Momma cat had to be feeding on something

When I got my boat there was a cat that spent the winter in it, it was a b@#$@#@$#$h to get the cat hair out of the carpet. Lots of swearing and duct tape.

Irish spring soap works, seams to work best if you put shaved chucks of it in a container. I keep some by the garage doors, boat and trailer and it keeps the nice out. Squirrels are another story though.

Guys, just a reminder when you are cleaning up make sure you protect yourselves. Hantivirus is a reality and using a vacuum or creating dust can be dangerous. I'm not preaching just throwing it out there. Good luck with the mice!

Throw some cedar shakes/shingles in your boat. Spread them around. Mice hate cedar.
