Default Wabamun Lake open by power plant?

Was thinking about getting out on the fish cat this weekend to do some fishing. Does anyone know if Wabamin is ice free by the power plant to do some fishing?

As far as I know all the powerplants on Wabuman are now shut down. Therefore, no more warm water outflow.

Also Im not sure because I dont fish late season hardwater but Im pretty sure that Wabuman closes for fishing on the 30th or 31st. Maybe someone else can confirm the date.

Still 3 ft of ice. Power plants closed down a few yrs ago. And yes the lake closes after the 31st.

Thanks for the info! If only I had an auger I could hit it up ice fishing tomorrow! Whats the chance of having a left over hole there from someone that hasnt frozen over? I am more of a fly fisher on pot hole lakes during the spring/summer months and have never been ice fishing in my life actually... I woulden't know where to start with pike and ice fishing. Jig with bait? Ive only ever spoon fished for pike. Thanks for the responses guys. I am just itching to get out and do some sort of fishing

Td, hit fallis with a treble and some herring and ice rod and reel, lots of holes still open from days past, should learn something from the congregation out there

It's open by the plant on the south side. Just got back from throwing a fly around there trying to chase a few pike but no luck. A few guys were fishing through the ice just out from us and got a couple.
