Default Mikisew/McClelland Lake

Has anybody been there in the last year or 2 or maybe this year so far? We have a group going in there in a week or 2 and were wondering what the accommodations and fishing were like? Any need for some Bear Repellent-300 Win Mag?

You might want to re-plan your trip. A massive forest fire is currently burning up in that area, and it actually surrounded Mcclelland lake. It is currently the second biggest fire in Alberta in the last 50 years.

Default Fire near mcclelland

I think that you are talking about the McClelland Lake south/near Fort Chip. The McClelland that Mikisew go to is north of Fort Chip and is apparently fineas there is a group in there now fishing.

went up there 2 years ago about the 1st of july,to late for lakers but the hike over to meyers lake was well worth it.go to south side of meyers and to the east of creek there is rock point,FISH anywhere within 100 yards of point and you will have all the walleye you would ever want...

Any idea if the fires are near Collin Lake ? We're supposed to go in there in a few weeks.

Default It is McLelland Lake that Mikisew go to

not McClelland and the fires are SOUTH of Fort Chip from what I have read while the Mikisew Lakes are NORTH of Fort Chip.

Not at the moment. Alot can change in a few weeks. I would keep checking the SRD website as they show maps of where the fire is.
