A few years ago, before the winterkill, took my kid out to Hasse, saw a guy hammering the perch. His bait of choice ...... those tiny little cocktail shrimp from a can.

The perch were litterally jumping into his lap - it was stunning to see how much of a difference the right bait makes. Perch, or so i thought, would hit almost anything edible. It's quite clear they have strong preferances given the fact people were fishing shoulder to shoulder there using different baits and only one guy was catching.
