fishing in Ontario, double the fees
I see that our neighbours in Ontario have finally jumped on the bandwagon and are charging Canadian residents who are not residents of Ontario about twice the price for fishing licences this year.
What's most disappointing is that the sole justification for doing this is that 'most other provinces are doing it'. Nothing about relative costs and benefits, etc., and no consideration for provinces that are NOT doing it (like Alberta).
Thanks!
I just sent Ted Morton a letter suggesting that it's high time that we reciprocate, but only to residents of those provinces who are charging us extra.
It won't stop anyone from coming here to fish; the extra cost of the licence is a pittance compared to what it costs to come here in the first place. But it will send a message that we don't appreciate the trend that THEY started.
