Islander MR2LA?

Been wanting to get away from the level wind reels for trolling the larger interior lakes on BC for rainbows and lakers/bulls. Looks like my options are a fly reel or a mooching reel.

Can anyone tell me if the Islander MR2LA would be too much reel for 2-12 pound fish?
