Default Alta-View Trout Farm

Has anyone fished at Alta-View Trout Farm?

From what I understand, you pay a fee to get in. That fee is then applied to what you catch (they charge by the inch for the trout you catch). You have to keep whatever you catch. They got bows and brookies.

While I personally find the whole thing distasteful for a number of reasons, I'd like to take the boy out somewhere where he is pretty much guaranteed to catch a trout he can take home to eat. If they're as thick in there as I suspect they are, it could get pretty expensive pretty quick.

I thought you were joking until I "Googled" it. I've avoided Calaway Park since I moved here in '97. I had no idea it had a trout pound! Have to remember that for one the little one is old enough.

I think son #1 is a little too old for that.

I did get a helpful PM from someone, so I think we'll try what he suggested.

the year they opened I took in some worms, was catching fish after fish, including an 18 inch Brown that somehow got into the rainbow stocking. Thats why they changed so you can only use their bread dough bait, guaranteed to not catch anything with that so they dont have to replace them if only they would let me bring a real rod in there just once

Is this place up and running again because I went to check it out about 3-4 years ago and they had chains on the gate. It's not too bad of a deal and they don't notice when you let some go back in the water.
