Default Red Deer River

Just thought I would give a report on the Red Deer at Sundre.

Been flyfishing it off and on for a good number of years and it has never really been productive, normally just casting practice with the odd hit. Does not help the river changes channel annually.

But for the last couple of weeks it has been fun for a change, brown trout in the 10 to 14 inch range seem to be making a come back. Feisty when on the line, but set the hook quick or they spit it out!

Best fly has been an olive green stonefly size 10- 12 on a floating line.

Tight Lines!
