Default Jerky Time Again

It's been a month since the last 2 batches and we have our ATA shoot this weekend I have received a few texts from the boys asking if there will be jerky to chew on again so I figured I better crank out a couple batches.

Just squirted out and threw in the jerky oven the cracked black pepper and garlic that I mixed up last night and have enough out thawing for another batch that I'll mix up and let sit in the fridge overnight then throw it on tomorrow morning, I think batch 2 will be hickory

Default More Jerky

Just squirted out another batch of hickory moose jerky @4:30 this morning, mixed it up last night and let it sit in the fridge to draw the flavor, I'm heading to Provincials in Calgary this afternoon and needed some to take along.

I have cranked out 21 lbs in the last 3 weeks, the trap shooting crew is getting spoiled, need to crank out another batch next week for the shoot in Kindersley, that's my contribution to the soiree

That looks like the same cabelas dehydrator I have. How long does it usually take using ground? I tried once and totally over did it and dried it all out. Now I buy eye of round and slice it thin. That takes me between 4 & 4.5 hours turned up to max temp.

Looking good guys! Too bad Deb and I can't make it to the shoot this week but that evil four letter word that starts with "w" is getting in the way. Good luck Ed! Shoot straight!

Yup Cabela's 10 tray dehydrator, temp at 160 degrees 4 1/2 hrs and out it comes, perfect every time with either the flats or the rods, I put it on at 04:30 this morning and pulled it out at 9:00

Likely not.
Although, if I get enough accomplished over the next couple days, there's an outside chance I could sneak out for Saturday and shoot the 200 singles.

Good luck out there.

I bought a couple of top sirloins today as I wanted to take a drive and ended in Strathmore!!!! Sobeys had a great price on these with 9 bucks off a pound!!!! . I did have a cooler and ice packs so bought 2. Chilled one in freezer for a bit to make the cutting easier . Sliced and diced and have one cut in the ziploc with the marinade on for jerky. I find it turns out great. Wanted to have some for camping next week. Might check Sobeys here in SE calgary to see if they have the same deal on. I paid 64 bucks for 2 and receipt shows savings was 78 bucks!!!
Bonus!
Drive was only intended to pick up more dry rubs and pellets and did that too.
Shout out to Stu and Derek at Primitive Grills out in SE industrial .
6 more rubs and 60 pounds of CDN pellets. Check them out!!!!

You missed a great shoot bud, saturday 200 singles the weather was perfect, hot and very little breeze, good visibility, 84 shooters so a nice crowd for a change.
The jerky evaporated quickly got to throw another batch in Wednesday I'm shooting in Kindersley this weekend

You should have been in Swift Current last Friday at the Sask Provincials, smoke in the air so thick it was burning my eye's, wind 35 gusting to 50 for the handicap, I won't say my score in public but it was BBBBBAAAAADDDD
