What boot do you wear to be hiking/hunting all day when it is below -15*C
What is your preferred boot and level of insulation to wear when you plan on hiking/hunting all day and it is around -15*C and colder? Please include the insulation number in your boot model and if you need to wear extra socks.

Baffin Impacts.
They are rated to somewhere around -150 F. One pair of socks, no more needed.
Pluses: they are flexible, warm, pull apart for drying, higher on the calf and synch able.
My only complaint is I wish the upper outer shell were tougher. On and off the sno go and doing other things they can be nicked or even cut by screws and whatnot. The cuts won’t run. I do not think any brush alone would tear them.
They do run tight to size.
I’ve been on sno go trap line to -40f and my feet were about the only part of me that were good and warm.

Meindl with 400g thinsolate. They are great for the colder weather, but are too warm above about -10C.

I have two pairs of Schnees, one medium weight pair, and one really heavy weight pair, unlike most pac boots, they are actually comfortable to walk in over uneven terrain. I wear one pair of socks.

X2. Unfortunately they don't carry them anymore and finding Meindel boots locally is pretty tough.
I recently replaced with Hanwags which are just a durable and comfortable but don't seem as warm.
-15 and colder I wear arctic sport muck boots. Not the best for long hikes or climbing but tough to beat for warmth.

Muck boots are what Ive been using. There is enough internal movement with the non-laceup style though that I am looking to buy something with laces. But Im hoping to retain the waterproof warmth.

My Danner Canadians, can't beat them down to -20 or so after that I need my -40 muck boots which are not near as good for hiking, but then I would never go hiking at -40

P&S
I pause and sneak hunt, and generally nest in and sit and watch a good part of the day. I wear original leather/rubber Sorels with an upgraded felt pack with a reflective insole underneath or a frost mesh. I bring extra socks and change them midday if required. I have hunted with them for 25+ years when its cold.
I bought a pair of Elk Hunters but they are still in the box. Gotta break them in first and give them a try.

Either 400 gram or 1000 gram Kenetreks. Depends how cold it is as to which pair I grab.

Russian felt Velenki. Two pair of heavy wools socks and a Moccasin type over shoe. Light & Warm. I haven't found a boot that matches them yet.

It depends:
- if I gonna mostly walk with few short stops, I wear my irish setter elk tracker 400
- but if there will be several long sitting times (novermber deer and trapping), I wear my muck boots arctic pro

For hiking around I don't find --15c a challenge for my Irish Setter Elk hunters, but if I am going to be on stand or sitting for a while, I use my Kennnetrek pac boots, fantastic boots that are no issue to use hiking .

Thank you for your comments on favorite cold weather boots. I chose Irish Setter Elk Tracker 1000s with Goretex. They are very comfy in store with my orthotics with both one or two pairs of socks. I'm looking forward to using them.

at -15 and your moving just a good hiking boot would suffice....now if your sitting after a good walk ya might want to change out your socks and put on a heavy pac boot for the sit....

I’ve been looking at these lately. Felt boots used to be a thing when I was a teen.
Muck boots for me to about -15, I often have to use toe warmers about that temp and lower though.

Yes, Velenkis were very popular at one time. I recall buying my first pair at the old Army & Navy store on Whyte Ave, They cost all of $7.00 back then. Not much has changed about them .. other than the price.

I find my Rocky boots with a good wool sock to be very warm and comfortable to walk. My arctic pro mucks are very warm also but I wouldn't want to walk all day in them.
