Default AO: How Did You Get Here?

On another thread last night I mentioned that I found AO while Googling Remington 700's for sale in Canada/Alberta. We also find lots of newcomers here who found some of the diverse topics we discuss and add their own questions or threads; last night it was a young Philipina looking to get out of a busted headlight ticket; today there's a 1 post member asking about power engineering courses.

What brought you here? Ads in AO Magazine, a search engine when you were looking for something?

Heard about it from a friend, in the magazine, and then finally came up when googling some gear, so decided to join.

Ive been a reader of AO magazine since day one. Bought the first issue from Caroline Supply in the late 90s....
Rob advertised the website in the magazine. After seeing it in the magazine for a month or two I logged on and the rest is history.

Some rotten SOB in a dark green 7.3 diesel ford cut me off on the road, then a rock from his tires cracked my windshield! I did not get a plate number but he did have an Alberta Outdoorsmen decal on his rear window. So i figured i would join up and give him some well deserved payback.

I found the site just by looking around for decent folks who like guns and the outdoors. Even if most on here are from Oilberta

I think I was googleing info on some lakes and some old threads came up. After reading a few topics I got hooked.

I've always been a fisherman and have met some great people on the site. Now I'm taking up hunting and meeting more great people and the info on the site is awesome.

Thanks Rob for having this site.

I know how Twisted Canuck found it.....he was googling how to make Mojitos and how to figure out how to be socially acceptable to waitresses. I think he met a few friends here that he still lifts weights with to this day!

sorry man couldn't resist

You're honestly expecting me to remember something that happened over 3 years ago? I was searching for something on Google...maybe something relating to fishing in Alberta? It was a little intimidating, at first, with some of the...erm...characters, on here; but I got into it pretty quick.

I was searching for advice on where I could cut Birch Firewood. An old thread came up in my Google Search about Birch Firewood and I checked out the site.

Now some other guy is going to be looking for Birch Firewood and this Post is going to come up and we'll get another member joining the Forum.
