Great Prairie Bull Down!
Wow, was it ever hot! Ram Crazy and I went to Southern Alberta to see if we could find a bull for him. We went down on Tuesday afternoon and put in some extra time scouting for the evening. We already had a fair bit of time looking over some possible shooters leading up to the hunt. On Wednesday, opening morning; we snuck in to where we felt was one of the better bulls home area. After coming up empty in the first draw, we quickly located a bull and some cows in the next coulee. After setting up the scope and some fine shooting by RC, the bull was down by 7:30 am! Then the work began. After some grunting and sweating, we got the bull back to my cooler to hang. The meat turned out excellent and we cut him up for steaks, roasts and burger on Friday. All done!
Now for the numbers. Both myself and another individual who are Fish and Game scorers did a GREEN score on Wednesday night. This bull has MASS. His mass totals up to over 70``! The bases are 10.7 and 10.3. Very heavy! The main beams are long too at 53.5 and 53.3 respectively. The inside spread is 43. The green score is 350 and net is 336. A great first elk for RC!!

I'd like to thank FFG for all the help. It was a short hunt and I had done a lot of pre-season scouting. Seeing lots of Bulls I had made up my mind that it was between two Bulls, and which ever one showed itself first was in trouble. You Elk hunters out there are insane and I now know why I sheep hunt!! Them things are huge and a pile of work. It was my first Bull Elk and I think he is not bad at all.
