Default What are your favourite hunting books.

Just looking to dig up some new reading material and looking for some recommendations. My favourite list is
1. Grizzlies and White Guys by Clayton Mack
2. Yukon Trophy Trails by Delores Cline Brown
3. Most of the stuff by Andy Russell

Wilbur Smith has many books that take you right into the action of an african hunt. A few suggestions:
A Time To Die
A Sparrow Falls
Monsoon
These are not novels specifically about hunting but are filled with action and really hard to set down.

Hunter by J.A. Hunter

Unbelievable what the man did and saw in turn of the century Africa. I read this one over and over and over, and I'll read it again. If you like adventure it's for you.

All of the above, plus Jim Corbett's classics on hunting tiger in India. Could also throw in a few of Russel Anabel's selections, and a soon-to -be classic by Ian Nyschens "months of the Sun". Oh yeah, did anyone mention Taylor's classics?

I have really enjoyed O'Conner's stuff. The books my uncle has wrote about his hunting trips around the world are great too.

Nope. Signed and gifted to me. I know one of his nephews quite well, and he has stayed at their place when he's travelling through. The nephew worked for him in the book as well.
I know/ have known a few of the others as well.

Read the book by Kjos and hunted some of the same country around Toad River that he hunted in. Would love to find a copy of Skyline Pursuits if any are out there. Maybe ebay might have one. Just got a copy of Charles Sheldons Wilderness of the Denali, just into the first couple chapters.

Anyone on shotgunning?

I have quite a few books on shotguns, but not shotgun hunting.

There have to be a few British authors out there that can paint pictures in your mind.

Any suggestions gentlemen.

Love the coffee table sheep books by Robert Anderson. Great to look at the photos and some of the stories, especially just before sheep season.

There have been quite a few good books mentioned, if you want a good book on nature it is tough to beat Andy Russel. If you want a good book on hunting and shooting in Africa, look to John Taylor.

I have several good books on shotgunning, byt the likes of D. Lee Braun, Barney Hartman, Bullard, Greener, Askins Jr., etc, but the main ones I use do not cover hunting but shotgunning in general.

I have no favourite books. I enjoy whatever Mother Nature teaches me through what I see, hear, study, read. For me there is nothing better.
