Need help with names
Wife due in June with our second boy. We're having a hard time trying to pick one that's not already in the (extended) family. Something outdoorsy would be nice, conception was in between the elk rut and the moose rut, I guess it effected me on levels I wasn't aware of, I gotta take my hunting a little less serious from now on!
Let's hear em', hopefully we can agree on a name before the big day.

Thank you!
Hunter was on the top of our list too! I guess I should have mentioned our first son's name is Hunter, what was the next one on your list?

Theodore (Roosevelt)
Perhaps knowing your and your wife's heritage would assist in picking regional names from your historical homelands. I did a thread on naming your kids once:

Forester,,, it's the translation of my surname from Polish
but Wolfgang is a pretty cool name, though Germanic, it may offend all the descendants.
Serge is a good French one and I did meet a quebeccer named Savage which also means horny in parts of France
Remington is pretty good but it does sound a bit like an upscale real estate agent from L.A
Sky is nice, not too hippy not too rednecky

Wow! I hate to say it but my sisters son's name is Braden. I see a trend here, third suggestion might be a winner!

The boys names we had picked out, had they been needed, when my daughter was born were Liam and Eric.

Too bad you're not having twins, you could name them Boone and Crockett. Then again, those could be first and middle names too I guess...

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, and the congratulations.
I'd like to name him Boone, but I have a dog named Boone. Lots of good suggestions tho, a couple I can't use.

Tip number one: Make it a name where the spelling is self-evident. Don't have him be subjected to "How do you spell that?" his whole life. Also pick a name that is clearly male... though it seems to be a trend to give females names that might have formerly been exclusively male.

Naming your kid is one of the toughest jobs. You want a good unique name yet you dont want them bugged at school , beat up or stuck with a name that doesnt fit when they are adults. Some good names given, some I would never call a boy. In the end we decide our kids life long name. We had a couple names picked for our son but when he arrived and we could look at him, the names didnt fit. He was baby x for a few days whille we started the list from scratch. My daughter came out and the name we chose fit like a glove. Of course when you get a real good one, then the, oh they named their kid that or I knew a real idiot in school with that name dilema. Good luck and let us know what you decide on for a name.

I hear you, two of the names my wife suggested were Garren, I think that's how it's spelled, and Shaye.... for a boy, I think.
Sooner, good points too. Some names are cute until they're 25 and looking for a job. We come from families of hunters and outdoorsmen, and spend every day we can in the outdoors, so naming the first boy Hunter was an easy decision. It seems to fit perfectly. I'm sure once we hear the right name, there won't be a question from either of us.
Thanks again guys, keep em' coming!

I'm sorry but I wouldn't let people on AO decide/suggest your sons name!
This is your wife's and your self's thing and it should stay that way!

I don't want an AO member to name our child. In the end it's going to be our choice. We both agree we would possibly like an outdoor name, and where better to find a list of names? We haven't had a name jump out at us, so instead of looking up general lists of names, I thought I'd ask for some suggestions from people in "our crowd".
