Cool Check out this bow

This is gonna sound weird....

I ended up buying this bow. It's basically a kids bow. Comes with like 2 arrows, forearm guard, finger tab. Has a 25 lb draw weight, which isn't much but would be fine on likely any game up to a deer. That might be a stretch. I'm not looking to do any serious big game hunting or anything anyway. More just want to tinker around with it for fun.

The kicker is I only paid $60 bucks for it on ebay which includes shipping. Most every adult compound bow is starting at about 200 at least, not including arrows or other gear.

So what do you think?

They are really small don't think the draw length is very much. I believe cabellas or walmart sells them.

Your bow has to have at least a 40lb draw weight to hunt with it. All thats good for is gophers and rabitts.

Don't expect much because that bow would probably struggle to kill a house hold cat over 10 yards.

I think we're spoiled. Back in the day the indians used bows that didn't have much draw weight to kill buffalo. I think 25 lb would easily kill any small game up to a deer. I could be wrong who knows. I think it's where the arrow hits more than the draw weight.

I shoot traditional bows. No way your going to do anything except shoot gophers with 25 lbs. I shoot 60# @ 28" now, getting a second bow 45# @ 28". 45# you can do a lot with and it's real easy to pull back.

Maybe so But the law says you need 40lbs....... yes you are correct it is where the arrow hits.... but in order for it to enter far enough you need to have certain amount of energy a 25lb bow will not have enough energy to penetrate enough to kill anything reliable.....My kids compound which is more efficient than that bow you just bought does not pass through a gopher at 25 yards at 30lbs........

I would've chosen an alternative.... My boys bow ranges from 30 to 60 lbs, 18 to 29 inch draw length....

But then if you're only going to tinker around....

Like stated already, shooting anything other than the smallest of game would be ill-advised....

Good to know. I'll try it, you're right, it will likely suck! ha ha. I'll have to keep my eyes pealed. For something with more juice.

That same set up was on sale at Canadian Tire here in Lethbridge last week for $25. I was thinking about getting one for my son but thought I had better wait another year before I get him a bow.

It looks like the Crappy Tire special... it'll work, as in it'll throw the arrows.

I understand the hesitation with not wanting to spend $$$ on a bow, but there is going to be a considerable difference between your $60 Ebay bow and a $300 bow package. The preformance is going to be night and day, just for tinkering with, it'll throw arrows.

For example you could have gotten a PSE Razorback recurve (Up to 30#) ($140), 6 arrows ($40), shooting glove ($20) and easily had a much better set up than what this injection molded bow is capable of.

Heck, even if you would have surfed the pawn shops...

Not a bad bow for a kid to fling arrows with.

Should work good on moose if you can get close enough to shove it down it's throat and hope it chokes to death on it.
