Default Separate vacations, all in fun

With our family fishing trip coming up this Aug on Van Island, the family just can't seem to put in the 4 more months before getting away.
The wife had always bugged me about going to see her gal friend in the US. This gal used to work with my wife up here for a term years back and they had always kept in touch. I had always told the wife to take a trip to see her friend if she really wanted to, but just not something that I would have wanted to do.
Since Air Miles covered most of the travel and accom taken care of how bad could it be right ? We agreed to keep budgets, and I say budget'sss, because I'm doing my thing too, so budgets kept to around $1500 - $2K, so fairly harmless.
So Mr Bark took the plunge and will be flying to Louisville next week, anyone know where this is going ? ha. KY in early May.
I will be taking my youngest son to Victoria for a prelim to our Aug salmon trip, staying with Aunt & Uncle, not too many big salmon around in early May, but we will fish boarder and constance banks for halibut and 10 lb feeder spring salmon will be common too. Crab traps set out too, so should be fun.

So with her idle chit chat lately on the cell phones like wives usualy do, she's been firming up her plans with her friend for next week, me not paying total attention to her cell conversations, and I gotta love that guy on the Klondike ice cream commercial who actually listens to his wife for 5 full seconds, ha, well maybe I should have, not that her trip is something that I would not have wanted her to take, but now I realize that I may have wanted to make this trip with her instead of going fishing.
Turns out she will be at the Oaks Derby on the Friday, and the Ky derby on the Saturday, all on budget, wow, you go girl, ha.
Should have seen it coming when the dress's and hats which seemed like they were from the '50's started showing up it the house a week back, looks lke she'll be on the Royal Tour, ha ha.
But anyways, looks like she's trumped me on this one, not sure if anyone else has attended a triple crown derby weekend but it is sounding now like it would have been an opportunity to jump on. Anyways I have a U of Ky basketball # 23 Davis jersey on order.

The wife had a great time in KY this weekend at the derby with the gals.
Fishing off Sooke was slow for the boys, 3 and 5 lb salmon today, 12 keeper crabs yesterday and the first day, Thurs, was the best with a 14 lb salmon and a 40 lb halibut.
The wife in KY did place a bet for me and it covered, a bet of $20 accross the brd on Dallaman made me only a few $, but her own bet of 5 horses in a wheel made some good cash, the 3 winners were in her choice of 5.
I don't know how she does it, ha.

I still do a few "rougher" hunts every year that the Wife and kidz wouldn't enjoy so we do the separate holiday thing fairly regularily.

Any chance you can type out Kentucky from now on? It is just about killing me not saying something stupid and getting sent to banned camp
