Default Leukemia and Lymphoma football fundraiser

Hey guys/gals

I thought i would bring this to your attention. A fellow me and my cousin played football with has recently passed away from Leukemia. He was diagnosed thanksgiving week and two weeks later he passed away. My cousin came up with the idea to hold a fundraiser in his name. Its a charity flag/ touch football tournament in memory of a teammate/ friend, Brett Binder, who recently passed away at the age of 19 due to Leukemia. Intentions are to raise money through registration fees and donations of which 100% will be turned over to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Of Canada. The 5 on 5 tournament will take place on the weekend of May 3 & 4 ( times TBD ). We looking to have 8 teams each consisting of 5 - 6 players ONLY ( 5 players, 1 sub ). The 8 teams will be broken into 2 groups of 4 and will be played as a round robin over the 2 days. Now we are lookin for at least 8 teams so if you are able to get a team on the go and want to come play some football for a weekend come on out. Just contact me ahead of time so we know total numbers. It will be happening in the Lynnwood/Ogden/Riverbend area. As you can tell we still have a few kinks to work out.

As of right now we have a few major companys sponsoring the fundraiser and will be contributing prizes and such and if you know of any company that would like to become a sponsor please pm or email me, it would be greatly appreciated. Any individual donations would also be greatly appreciated, i will have you send them to me and then they will be included into the total accumulation of funds raised, cheques will only be accepted and they are too be made out to
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Of Canada
please include your own contact name and address so a receipt can be mailed to you for your contribution.

INTERESTED PLAYERS:
- It's $125 per team/ $25 per player
- There will be 5 prizes per team
- Some of the available prizes are Golf Bags, Movie Packages, Snow/ Skateboard equipment, etc.
- Upon paid registration, a team name and colour must be chosen which will be on a first come first serve basis.
- Team information must be emailed to me

Here is a facebook group my cousin made about it The Binder Bowl

Now the amount of prizes per team are not final as we may get more sponsors and such by then, the final time and location will be determined in the near future. We have contacted the media and there will probably be media coverage of this as well. So any donations or willing sponsors would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all.

Lethal,

PM me your address as I would like to make a donation. Good on you guys for doing this. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society does great work and contributes huge funds towards life saving research. The scientific advancements in recent years for the treatment of Leukemia is amazing but there is still work to do, which your friend's passing is an unfortunate reminder of. My wife has been very active in raising funds for them as well by running 1/2 marathons in various locations. To date she has raised over $30,000. I am one of many people that have benefitted greatly from the medical advancements in the treatment of Leukemia. I was diagnosed with it 3 1/2 years ago, and I am fortunate enough to be in remission.

I hope your event goes well!
Chet
