Smile The National Amateur in Red Deer, anybody there?

For the retriever people on the site, the National Amateur Retriever stake is being held in Red deer right now, and there are lots of excellent dogs and some of the best dog trainers alive to-day. A good selection are from Alberta.

If you want to see what your dog may be capable of, have a look.

Smile The who's who of North America Amateurs!

Some of these people have won the US National, pros and amateurs alike, The Canadian open and Canadian Amateur. The best trained dogs and their trainers all in Alberta.

I see Sherwin Scott is up for it. And Joe Leptick is running a dog. A lot of winning experience is those two - not to slight any of the other contenders who have "been there, done that" as well.

Smile Ray Koskinen!!

Ray is from Rocky View and is running his field trial champion. This is not unusual for Ray as in his 90 years!!!! he has "finished" I'd guess about 30 dogs.

He is my hope for a win, if any one is a sentimental choice it is Ray.

I think that this proves a life of dog training is a healthy life.

Go Ray!

All dogs but 1 were asked to return after first test, wasnt a tough test per say but wind and drag back kept dogs from driving up the hill or going to opposite side or where bird thrown causing some handles.

Second test all dogs got called back. Next test a water triple this a.m

dog number 27, FTCH AFTCH REVILO’S EASY PIC owned and handled by 90 year old Ray Koskinen was lookin good yesterday. I hope to be that lucky to be playing doggy games late in life

Default wow, Go Ray

when I was stil field trialling in the late 80's Ray would always host an end of season picnic trial on his property east of Conrich that had been specifically built to train dogs on with custom built ponds with points and islands. He also hosted a fun shoot the same camping weekend with a built in trap thrower so everyone got a little practice on their swing prior to waterfowl season. Great guy and we used his Lab to breed our Amber in the late 80's. I had no idea
Ray would stil being trialing. good for him, chasing dogs must be considered good exercise.
Keith are you actually at the grounds or getting reports on the tests? If we get a rainy day I may have to go up and watch some tests. Where are the grounds?
Rob

Smile Near Pine Lake yesterday

I think you'll have to call one of your doggy friends to find out where they are on each day. Depending on the weather they can change their plans at the last minute.
