Default 2007 Sailfish - Cancun - With new pics

Well I just got back from my wedding in Cancun.
While there, I managed to catch my first sailfish. We hooked 11 and had 9 in the boat. It was a heck of a day!

Mine was 87" long. I am still waiting to hear a weight back on it.

Thanks guys.

I never got to taste him. The fish was shipped to Gray's Taxidermy in Florida.
Now just weather I spend the rest of the money to get him mounted.

I have eaten sailfish a couple of times. The meat is a deep red and looks kinda like beef, not quite the same in looks as say Yellowfin tuna.As for flavour? Its not bad but not the greatest eating. For billfish nothing beats striped marlin or shortbill spearfish on the table!!!

I would have to say an average of 15 minutes. My first one was about 20 mins and last one was about 10 minutes.
It seemed like 2 minutes. Any longer and I think my left arm would have fell off. lol

We were just of the coast from Cancun. Feb 21st was the day we were fishing.
I think Mexican may have been worried about us running out of celebration beers. lol

i just got back from the Haciendia on the Mayan Riveria the 4th of this month, and man it was hot there 89 degrees F. so i know it was hot on the ocean, with all the heat and water you must have roasted. that is an awsome fish, congratulations...... i had to cancell my fishing trip, cause "i never burn" had a face that looked like bubble wrap. again congrat's on the fish of a lifetime.
