2 mouths, eh. I guess that's why it weighed 5.5 lbs???? That would break the provincial record by over a pound and a half.

Wouldn't it still count as the record? As long as the boys who caught it were angling? Who cares if it has 2 mouths. That shouldn't disqualify it as a potential provincial record.

I think there's lots of people who would like to know what the cause is

Could be natural - injury, water temps of eggs, could be due to some form of pollutant (downstream from the oil sands?, uranium?).

The Gov. doesn't do any monitoring of the water or sediments in Lake Athabasca, as I don't think they want to know the answer

Well I'd bet on the pollutants from oil sands myself, dumpin lots of nasty **** into the water. Hopefully doesn't mess the fish up too bad!

Everyone is so quick to blame the plants. The man regulates what goes into the river. Not that they don't miss anything but......... Have you ever seen human birth defects? are you going to blame the tarsands for that too?

I've seen pictures of alot more grusome conditions/defects in human cases. Not that the fish looks charming or anything like that.

Just keep open minded, this isn't the first time they've found a defect in a fish. I've caught many with irregularitys.

If "they" were to say its a mutation thats when I'd start to worry.

How about a hoax. Don't believe everything you read. That is something this board has taught me

How about examining a closer up version of the picture:

Amazing how a mutation of a supposed "goldeye" suddenly becomes larger and grows nasty little teeth.....geez Photoshop sure makes wizards out of some.
