Mrs Tree organized and hosted a BBQ tonight. A+++ results.

The majority were ex-pat Brits, including a mother-in-law over for a month. We kept our mouths shut and marinated and BBQ'd 2 big Elk roasts and a bunch of bear sausage.

Everyone was amazed, and had second and third plates. Many 'doggie bags' went home.

After supper, I told them the story, and entertained them with a few 'hunting stories'. Many laughs occured around the backyard firepit. The mother-in-law will be flying back to London this week with a 'doggie bag' full of Elk, and stories of the wild man Canadian she met!

There were also some urbanite Calgarians in attendence who raved about the meal, and reveled in the stories.

The minds of about a dozen people were opened a bit more tonight via their stomachs and my ability to be somewhat entertaining!

Gotta do what ya can to educate people one free BBQ at a time!

Tree

Good on you, Tree!

That's how it has to be done. People who know hunters and anglers and how passionate they are about the resource will have trouble supporting people who want to ban those activities. We've got to keep telling the story, and being proud of who we are!

good on you Tree,

yes that's how you change people's mind.

Your elk is probably not getting into Europe though. Airport customs have become quite picky about meat, CWD and all. I've tried in Frankfurt.

I did a bbq for a big group of climbing friends to clean the freezer before hunting season. People raved about my latest badge of Italian sausage - it was the best sausage I've ever made (but I didn't tell 'em that ).

BTW good luck on the upcoming hunt.
I can't get away until late September. This time of year is always the busiest time of the year job wise and I have still an injured foot.

I know you guys will leave some trophy sheep

Funny, my wife's British relatives rave about the wild game we cook up too!
They seem a lot more receptive to hunting and eating game than my Canadian relations!
