by Smoky Lake town. Anyone have any info on it ? I'll be working over that way for a few weeks, and may have time to fish it now and again.

I cannot find anything in Barry Mitchell's book .

and, a hydographic map would be nice !

and what, if anything, is in it ?

I would try Hanmore. I have heard there is some big jacks in that lake never tried myself though.

There are some good lakes around the town of Smokly Lake, the one you are mentioning is just a shallow slough. Try Hanmore Lake, Brodyk Lake, Mons Lake, Kaduk Lake or Bellis beach.

All are within 1/2 hour of Smoky Lake capitaal of God's Country.

Yes, Hanmore is a good one and there are some nice Rainbows in Bellis lake.

Bellis is only 15 mins W of Smoky and the trout usually cooperate. Mons is the most popular, lots of perch but by this time of year they seem to be smaller.

I was fishing a Lake near Hanmore appropriatley named Island Lake and we were nailin the Pike there in the summer. It is a decent size lake with a ton of islands, imagine that! The fish were not big but there were a ton of em. Almost every cast! Amazing fishing for kids. And to top it all off, one of the guys caught an old fishing net, which still had 6 stubby neck bottles in it unopened!

Default Thanks!

Hey Rookie R! Thanks for posting about Island. Good to hear that it is fishing well. I've been wanted to try it for years. Did you manage to see or hear anything about the small mouth bass in that lake....if there are any left?

Cheers!

The Lake was stocked with smallmouth bass back in the 80's. There is speculation that there may still be some in there. We have had an Aqua-Vue down there but never seen any yet. There may still be who knows? Don't know much about that species. But what a beautiful area it is in there! Great place to take a newbie fishing.

I've heard rumors of some local guys still catching them as well. In some sort of a bay from what i was told. Never fished the lake myself.
