There used to be a lot of Skunks in the North, until the Rabies plaque wiped them out back in the 1950s.

I haven't seen any animals that I thought didn't belong here, or anywhere else I've been.

Birds are another matter. I've seen a few that weren't supposed to show up here according to my books.
And I found a huge Toad along the Peace years ago. No one I showed it to had ever heard of Toads being in the area.

Saw a wolf running through the old Shawnee golf course here in Calgary.
Got a great look and was 100% positive.

Also saw one north of Drumheller. Hunting buddies told me I was full of it.
Next week someone posted a pic of a wolf shot up that way...

Who knew...

I saw a road killed moose lying on the Taylor Bridge in Red Deer on Sunday. It was a young cow, with an RCMP cruiser parked behind it, and the officer directing traffic around it. It's not odd to see moose in this city at all, but to see one dead, well onto the deck of one of the busiest bridges in town was pretty strange!

I couldn't resist dropping the window and saying 'Canada, eh?' To the Mountie as we passed. He grunted at me, but I knew he was laughing inside.

Two moose in my front yard in Edson in December one day chewing on our apple tree branches which were draped in Christmas lights. Could hear the light bulbs poppin in their mouths.

Pheasants at a our acreage a few miles south of high level..been seeing them for a few years running now.
No idea where they came from, if they were escapees from a farm or what.. But they are a pretty bird.

I did not see it, but a friend shot a couple raccoons along the Boyer river east of high level about 8-10 yrs ago. He still has the hides to this day, hanging in his living room as a conversation price.

My aunt has said they've had moose walk through the yard on the family farm at Prairie View, 25 miles NE of Swift Current SK.

I have also heard (rumours) of cougar sightings along the river in the same area.

I myself have woken up with claw marks on myself. Given the report from a buddy, I can only assume it was the work of a cougar/cougars, as he claims to of spotted one not to far off from where I was sitting!!!! Pretty scary. I now pack bear bangers with me.

Or see them nest in the Osprey nests here by the river.Every year it`s a race to see who moves in first.I just wonder how many goslings survive the 60 foot jump onto the rocks.
