Calgary firewood

Does anyone know where to get a good deal on firewood close to Cowtown? Don't mind cutting my own but don't have the time till after X-mas. Also don't mind driving to pick it up. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

my Dad used to know a tree cutter but since he moved away I lost the connection for wood .I am in the NW also if you ever want to get some hauled away , if I can get away I have truck will travel

Hey TreeGuy, I came across a mother lode of wood. So, I brought as much as my truck could carry home to burn in my outdoor fireplace. Turns out this stuff is cedar. Boy does it smell nice and crackle wicked. Can I burn that stuff in my house fireplace safely. I'm, not concerned about the sparks as I do have a screen, but what about chimney residue?

NOTE: I will do my best to get anyone free firewood. However, I have about 5 guys locked into my phone right now, and usually the first guy I can get in touch with and pick it up within 24 hours gets it.

Otherwise, I can give you some names of some quality guys in the business I know and set you up in that manner. This is 'pick up' only though if you want it for free.

Imagine trying to block out a 10' section of Manitoba Maple that was hollow and filled up with gravel and concrete 20+ years ago! Went through 9 chains. The neighbours were offended by the language..............

We heated our house with wood growing up and found that cedar burns pretty clean. Not much in it for sap. Where, if you don't mind, did you find it? Kinda looking for a load for kindling.

You should be ok. My father-in-law has a hobby woodshop in his garage and I burn his cedar off cuts in my firepit to get things started. 5/8" pieces burn up faster than your average newspaper tossed in whole though.

Cutting cedar in low light = nice spark show... for such a soft wood, it sure is hard on chains. Seems to suck sand up the tubes...

Burns fast, but is great kindling, as has been said. Low BTU value.

Probably too far for you but maybe not. I buy a full truck load of 3-4 year old pine & spruce out west of Caroline for $70. It's in a bundle about 12 feet long by 5-6 feet diameter. I cut it up there but he will load it onto a trailer for you. It fills my truck, with sides, to about 3 feet above the box.
Like I said its probably too far, but if you bring ice fishing gear with you then your set. If interested just let me know and I will get the number.

just moved from out east and prices seem to be quite a bit higher out here.

Couple examples.

I use them in my Pheasant pens as roof supports and decoratives. Some Pheasants will also hop up onto the curved part(s) for a look around or to display.
Problem is, I rarely get down to Calgary. I'm an hour north of Edmonton. Would make the trip if there was enough to make it worth it though. I have an 18' car hauler trailer. Plus the truck is set up to haul as seen in the picture.

Hi there, just wanted to let you know that we deliver spruce & pine mix to Calgary for $250 per cord. A cord is 4 feet high x 4 wide by 8 feet long. Our wood is very dry & split 16 inches long pieces. Check us out at Buckerupfirewood.com.
