The problem is that Noon and Midnight are neither a.m. or p.m. So, 12 p.m. or 12 a.m. is meaningless. That is why the 24 hour clock is much more descriptive of the actual time.

I think , no, I KNOW yer clocks are out 
It's true ! Just heard on the news that the nuclear clock needs another second added to it, due to the Moon's gravity slowing the Earth's rotation !
Over three million years we would lose a whole minute if a second here and there was not added !
