Default Blind Ambition

The 2016 home opener is tomorrow.

The blinds are set, and Rugersingle and I are primed to see what will come our way come first light.

I'm sitting here in my office, thinking back to when we first built those blinds, and what we've learnt since then. Thinking about memories we've filed away in those dusty old files of our brains.

Thinking about the deer, elk, moose, and coyotes that have filed past, while those long sits have occurred.
Thinking of those animals that will soon pass by, and hoping that THE deer that dreams are made of will grace my shooting lane, and then grace my memories even further.

Here's hoping gang!
Here's wishing you all the best come the 1st, be safe, have fun, and most of all, cherish the memories.

Up at 5:51, showered up with the no scent body wash, and used the no stink em pit stick, once I found it..

Coffee in the thermos.

Lo and behold the snow fairy arrived, and we've got a fresh covering on the ground.

Rugersingle is performing his morning ritual, which includes a walk in the yard to test the air quality, then upstairs to test the plumbing.

Here I sit in the living room, saying my good mornings to our 2 Junior A players as they head off to their daily practice.

Waiting

Keep the updates coming!

Co-worker in the cube behind me just announced that I should be out hunting. He's right - it would be more fun than sitting here, wrestling with vaporware vendors.

Your killing me while I sit in my office blind lol.

Good luck, hope the buck in the photo shows up for you.

I will be out somewhere west this weekend looking for a WT buck for my son. Still needs to close his tag on his first deer.

So yesterday was a bit of a let down.
I saw nothing on my morning sit. And all Rugersingle saw in his AM shift was a cow and calf moose.

Our evening sit was somewhat better, with me seeing two different does both with twin fawns. Rugersingle got busted leaving his stand by two does.

This morning was like yesterday morning. I dropped Rugersingle off at his stand, and got into my stand just before 7:45.

At 8:00 Rugersingle reported his moose were back, but no other action.

I saw nothing till around 8:30, when a doe and a fawn sauntered past.

I stayed vigilant for the next 15 mins and nothing appeared, so I poured myself a coffee, and started applying anti fog to the blind windows.

While I was wiping the front window, I looked out and "oops what's that?"

Down goes the window, up goes the binos....... it's a buck!

Up goes the shooting pad.
Out goes the rifle.

I look, I ponder, he walks, he turns, he walks.....I got all 4 views!

He stops behind a couple old black bams, I wait for him to step out...........

When he does..............

Co'mon Dick give it up!
Quit hiding in your burrow like a Richardeon's ground squirrel just giving us an occasionally glimpse of your intentions!!

Quickest whitetail buck in the history of Ao.
Watching it through the scope and the gun accidentally goes off. Been there.

Thats just his lunch, tomato sauce on the ground and a shed antler he found.

Dick has started a new trend, a suspense portion to the harvest threads.
