Default Tim Horton's prices going up tomorrow June 07 2017

Notice on the register at my local Tim's
Some Hot beverages will be getting a price increase starting tomorrow.

Not sure what it'll be but I'll guess $1.99 for a large and $2.19 for Xlarge.

At least I know what to do with my nickels and dimes now.

Wonder how much that is a result of the minimum wage increases?

Those are the prices listed on the .com website...are prices going up across Canada or is this just in Alberta?

Is it just me, or does anyone else think lining up and waiting for a coffee is ridiculous?

Whenever I drive by a Tim Horton's and see a line up of vehicles at the drive through I shake my head in wonderment, it's just coffee folks!

I stopped drinking Hortons months ago. Coffee seemed to just taste worse and worse. Instead I opt for McDonalds coffee. Surprisingly good and I enjoy how hot they serve it. You could buy a black coffee from them and drive from Edmonton to Red Deer and it'd still be warm. Plus every 7th coffee I get a free one.

Yep. McDonald's coffee is really good. 7/11 serves up a decent cup as well.

Tim's is desperation coffee, last resort when caffeine is necessary.

McD's coffee is the best. Tims is horrible in comparison.

Default Trouble brewing at Timmys

There is trouble brewing at Tim Hortons with the franchisees now as well.

Tim Hortons franchisees are pushing back against changes implemented by the chain's new owners that are designed to cut costs but will lower the quality of the products, a report suggests.

According to the report in Tuesday's Globe & Mail newspaper, the franchisees have created an organization called the Great White North Franchisee Association to represent their interests and urge the chain's owner, Restaurant Brands International, to slow down and rethink aggressive cost-cutting strategies.

Yup, and I was truly surprised, but it is much superior and cheaper than Timmies.

I wonder what the cost of a franchise is. Must be through the roof. I have never seen a franchise so successful. It has to be a license to print money. They have been smart and made it a Canadian icon. It's as if it's unpatriotic not to go to Tim's. You are right, there are ALWAYS line ups at their drive through. And if you think that's bad come to downtown Calgary where you will see 30 people in line to get coffee.

And again we agree! Brew mine at home - price is relatively static.

Cheers

Tims hasn't used fresh ingredients in a long while. The coffee is freeze dried. The 'steeped' tea is a powder and the bakery items come 3/4 baked and frozen.

I doubt anyone else is much better, but when your slogan is always fresh...

I go to mcdonalds now because the line is never more than 2 cars deep, where Tims is usually 15 in the mornings. Plus the coffee is better and doesn't give me heartburn

Yep, Thermos in the vehicle each morning. Only time thru the drive thru is when I am on the road for more than a day.

Try Fort McMurray, there is a 20 car line up at 3 in the morning.

When I would order coffee, I would often go to McD's - not because it tasted better, but because the lines were shorter. As someone who hates the taste of coffee, but loves coffee (don't try to understand this lol), my issue with McD's is that the cream/sugar input was never the same. Otherwise, the coffee sat for too long. Either way, I found them not to be consistent. Timmie's is almost always consistent.

Cheers

Me too I have 1 large mug in the morning, I make it with my Keurig machine. I buy my Columbia coffee from Costco which is pretty tasty and I grind it myself.

The Costco coffee beans cost me around $16.00 and last me for 2 and 1/2 months. The money I save on coffee I use for hunting and fishing

Exactly what I do! I usually finish my last warm sip as I pull in to Pigeon Lake

President's Choice Premium Blend here, but to each their own in flavor. Keurig from Costco though!

I actually think McD's coffee is pretty good. Certainly better than Timmies... and I can't for the life of me tell the difference between the old Tim's dark roast and the new one. Personally, I prefer Starbucks above all others, but I personally like a dark, espresso-like, almost bitter coffee. I want that bean to be almost burnt.

Perk my own on the stove in the same MJB coffee from costco. 6 bux for the 20 lb drum. Hot or cold, old or fresh brewed I like it better than Starbux.

I get MC D sometimes.
