Default Another elk bites the dust!(pics)

Well went out today with my two cousins too see if my one cousin could fill his late cow elk tag before the end of the season and well he succeded in doing so. In the morning we thought for sure we wouldnt see any animals cause the wind was sooo strong, for example i was walking one ridgeline and i was watching tree get blown, after i seen that i got off of that ridge pretty fast.

As i was walking down from the ridge i heard 5 shots come from where my cousin and sure enough not a minute later over the radio i hear, get ahold of your dad cause we need the quad. So i get up to where he was there was a cow laying right where it was standing. He shot her right in the juguler( he was aiming for the chest but it hit a branch of some brush that was in front of her that he couldnt see and i guess he got lucky on the shot.)So another elk in the garage and more steaks and roasts for the belly.

I was standing on top of this ridge when i heard the shooting

This is the ridge i had to hike up and over to get to where the elk was(my legs are mighty stiff right now)

My cousins are on the right and thats me on the left

Nope it been pretty warm down here and i was getting worried that the elk may have left the area but apparently not.

But that area is about an hour southwest of Calgary and it is indeed quite the scenery.

No we werent in bob creek we hunt in 312 but where we were there is only a herd of 30 running around in there and we've harvested both our elk from that herd but the elk are definitely down from the high country. Good luck to yah tomorrow wuilly.

Thanks for the compliments guys. It was an awesome day to hunt(except for the wind in the morning) and its unfortunate that no one has tags left just so i can go out for another walk but i guess ill have to wait untill next year, which i already cant wait for but at least our freezers will be full untill then.

In total between the 5 guys i hunt with we managed to bag 1 moose, two elk and 11 deer so it was a good year for us and hopefully we will have just as of successful one next year.

A word to the wise, I don't imagine the majority of Landowners would appreciate having their full name plastered on the internet especially when accompanied by the wmu that their land is in. I would suggest editing that post.
