Default eating sylvan lake pike

I haven't fished here yet nor checked the regs so don't flame me if they can't be kept.
If I can keep em, does anyone eat them? I've heard that they are soft and gross.... Any suggestions or recipes appreciated.

I've never had a problem with them, but I mostly fish early summer/late fall. They may get a bit spongy in the heat we've been having lately.
As for recipes I use coyote brand pancake mix mixed with beer, rum, garlic butter, and some spices. Batter and fry in crisco or equivalent oil. Delicious. I made pike and walleye together last year and my dad couldn't tell them apart. The walleye was from saskatchewan before anyone gets ****y about poaching.
