Default Driving an ATV - Regulations? Myths or Facts?

Hey everyone, I'm wondering if someone can clarify this regulation for me? Every time I read it, I'm more unsure of what its saying;

"carry a weapon (see definition) on an OHV between 1 hour before sunrise and the following noon during an open season for big game on public land in the following WMUs: 102-166, 200-260, 300-351, 354-360, 400-446, 507, 508, 514, 521, 522, 526 and 841. This does not apply when the operator is on a direct route to or from a location accessible by vehicles designed for highway travel and his or her isolated campsite, and the weapons and ammunition are carried out of view in separate locked containers."

SO the way I read this is, can't carry a weapon on your ATV after an hour prior to sunrise and not before to noon? Is it truth or myth that you can carry your weapon if its in its case?

I can't seem to find the definite answer to this question; If I bring my 12 gauge hunting with me, can I carry on my Quad rack after 12 noon?? Can I have shells in the barrel just not chamber? (just got a quad)

Thanks everyone!

Default what I was told

is that if you are pulling in a camp or removing a camp you may have a cased, unloaded firearm with your camp gear if its out of sight and ammunition is not with it (in the same case). After 12 noon you may carry a firearm on the quad uncased, but no ammunition in the barrel or breach. If it has a removable clip, the clip must be removed. You can travel on a quad with a firearm up to an hour before sunrise. After that no firearms even if it is cased (unless you are pulling or removing a camp). A tent and sleeping bag by themselves do not necessarily prove you are hauling in a camp. Of course that will be up to the discretion of the F&W officer checking you out. Like where is your food,water etc. I hope this helps explain it for you.

You bet it does, thanks Sundance. I'm assuming by definition, a bow falls under the same rules?

From my understanding, yes they do. But for confirmation I would Call F&W.

How can you have a loaded round in the barrel,without it being in the chamber?The only place that a loaded round will fit in the barrel is in the chamber.
And according to the federal firearms laws,you can't have any ammunition in the gun or attached to the gun while it is in or on any motorized vehicle.That includes the magazine,even if it is a magazine attached to a hinged floor plate.The only exception would be a handicapped person with a permit to shoot from a vehicle.
