Default Archery Reading

I am a subscriber to Alberta Outdoorsman and am extremely happy with the magazine. I am curious if anyone knows of any Archery specific magazines that they would recommend.

what type of material are you looking for? Technical or hunting? The bowhunting mags cover the basics pretty good plus some decent hunting ideas. Honestly, I haven't bought much for magazines for a few years. I tend check the more local websites, that means Outdoorsmen and Bowzone because the hunting information matches our region much better. The stuff on the other sites does tend to be oriented to where the bulk of bowhunters live and that's not here.

If you looking for strictly technical info in a magazine then I'd suggest Archery Focus and I haven't looked at it yet but The Tournament Archer is supposed to be pretty decent too.

Thanks for the info. I had never heard of Bowzone, but I have been on it and there is a lot of information. Thanks again.

Perterson's bowhunting is a good magazine, but very americanized. Good gear review and whitetail techniques.

Eastmans bowhunting journal is a great mag for bowhunting stories (very hard core)

As for Canadian bowhunting magazines ... you have the GreatCanadianSportsman.com (Canadian bowhunting).

Because hunters that use a bow in canada are only 5-25% of the hunting population, there aren't a ton of articles specifically geared towards archery hunting in the canadian hunting magz like Outdoor Canada, Western Sportsman, AO, Outdoor Edge.

Do you think we need more archery content in the canadian magazines?

I'll have to check out bow & arrow

Thumbs up Magazine

I also enjoy EBJ - Eastman's Bowhunting Journal. A lot of great tech advise, gear reviews, stories, etc. Also tends to cover "Western" bowhunting in the States and Canada.

Just picked up 'Bowhunting' published by bowhuntingworld. Very good magazine, purchased at Chapters. Not seen it anywhere else.

I would love an Alberta specific bowhunting magazine, maybe an idea for a spin-off from AO?

I like Bowhunting as well, it is a couple bucks cheaper than some of the other bow mags with just as much content from what I see. I like to pick up my magazines at Walmart, 10% off cover price!!

I would love to see a archery specific article in AO every month, that would be great!!

If you join the Alberta Bowhunters Association (ABA), they have a Alberta based archery newsletter/magazine. There is usually several stories as well as club info.
