Default Lindal Homes????

Does anyone have any experience with Lindal homes here in Edmonton?? Seem like a good product to me...and some nice plans etc etc. Just wondering if anyone had any good or bad experiences?

Thanks

Just remember everything is subbed out to the lowest bidder so keep an eye on things. Not a dig at your builder of choice just 25 years worth of experience talking and in today's market everyone from the sub to the builder is working on a shoe string budget and under cutting the next guy.

Had one for a few years. Terrible amount of maintenance. If you like to spend your summers cleaning and staining go for it. If we had kept it I would have covered it with maintenance free siding then what's the point. If I was to build new I would consider normal construction and instead of drywall, cedar and pine on the inside.

I've been told, it's tough to get fire insurance for them.

Hopefully you're not so foolish as to consider 'buying' a house of any kind until the housing market implosion/crash settles down - in about 10 or 20 years.

Default prow

Yup..I really like the prow homes too. Good point about the insurance though. Never would have thought that they would charge more for lindal.

And yes...thanks for the heads up about the housing market. Not sure if I want to wait for 10yrs to get a house going out there...but I was hoping to wait until next year anyway to see if things like trades etc come down some more.

Sinawalli...who are some decent builders/contractors in the Onoway area? That's where I'll be building...just looking and deciding what to do out there for now...

Thanks for all the info guys.

Be careful out there, and do your homework!! Lots of crap!! Maybe the downturn in the economy weeded some of the bad ones out! We choose TDK, and I certainly wouldn't recommend him!! Deering Construction is very good (expensive), but worth every penny!! Who ever you choose, get them to provide you a list of clients, and ask them some question!! Good luck!!
