Default Bow river downstream of bearspaw dam

Well with the stork due to land in the coming weeks i cant venture out too far. Has anyone been fishing below the bearspaw dam lately? Its about a two minute drive from home and may be my only option. How is it? What shoud i use? Streamers? dry flies?
Any info would be appriciated...

Thanks.

The whitefish have been pielling up down there i have heard, and there are always a few big trout crusing about. Have seen some folks catch some small pike out of there aswell, so id say heavy nymph for the whites and maybe try some streamers for the trout and you may get rewarded with a pike too.

Cheers.

Skunkboy and I were out on Saturday, it was pretty miserable out. Managed to catch 4 small whites. We were using spinning gear, it would have been easier with the flyrod, we lost alot of gear to the rocks till we switched to slip bobbers.

Looking into the water by the dam we could see whitefish swimming by we even saw a pike.

The experience motivated Skunkboy to want to learn how to fly cast, so yesterday we were out on the green space infront of the house, thank goodness for youtube, it made explaning some concepts way easier.

The Dam is a minute from my place too. I've got some 18-20" bows just beneath it on buggers

Aren't those rocks the worst? I used to lose a fair number of buzz-bombs there in the years before I went to fly fishing exclusively in the Northwest stretch of the Bow. Never did too well up by the dam. The odd nice brown, a few smallish rainbows and even a couple small whitefish. I always figured it was because the fishing pressure was, and still is, very high.

I walked a couple of k of river and I ran into one other guy and his kid. if it is high pressure it's nowhere near that of down stream of the wier. That was my first time there though
