Default A story from Elk camp

On the 15th of sept me and the boy set camp alone in the rain waiting for the rest of the group to show up (witch they never did their loss) . Got some wood cut for the stove and stayed warm for the next day and a half till the rain quit .Did some scouting and found Elk right away. Well friday the 17th came and left us wet and cold and no elk .On are way back to camp I seen sompthing brown down this cutline and thought could it be and it was a nice brown black bear . So the sneek was on and wen I was about 150 yards the 338-378 worked her magic. My first coulour bear was down that alone made the trip perfect . So back to the elk huntin we went I managed to call in a bull but offred no shot. The moarning of the 18 was fun playin with the elk but no luck on a bull . We went back that evening to the line to just sit and wait and listen thats wen a cow came across at 630pm and the bull to follow the boy lined up and boom . Nothing but the bull running away I said you missed at 140 yards so we tracked him for 200 yards in the bush no blood no evidence of a hit so time to do a little target practice and the gun was shootin 26 inches low at 100 yards got that fixed right now. The question I have is how do you loose 26 inches it never got banged around not that I know of it was on my shoulder the whole time . With the gun shootin like that it was definetly a miss on the bull . Back to camp we go and find a nice 5x5 whitetail buck so the boy tryes again and sucess he got his 2010 buck down . That night is wen the story starts to stink we are staying in a 12x14 wall tent with a 12x14 poarch it was around 1:30 in the moarning sound asleep wen this foul odour was in the tent I yelled at the dogs to get out one was sprayed by a skunk so I thought . The skunk was in the tent and the dogs chased it out but the skunk sprayed twice while leaving , wat a way to get woken up. It was the dodge hotel for the rest of the night. So moarning came smellin like skunk and off elk huntin we went , and i got skunked on my elk to . The trip was a blast just the two of us for 12 days we seen 5 bull and 9 cow elk , 1 bear , 2 bull moose and more deer than I could count. And to my huntin buds that never showed up you will be replaced next year.
