If you "cross" a bow with a rifle, you get a "cross-bow".

It has some advantages and disadvantages compared to a long bow, recurve or compound bow.

But it is a lot more "restricted" than a modern rifle.

I think it should be allowed in "Primitive Weapon" and "archery" seasons.

How about you?

An interesting take on history but not quite. The crossbow has been around since the 4th century....firearms didn't hit the scence until at least 300 years later. The crossbow was a variation of the traditional longbow that included a mechanism to keep the bow at full draw.

As far as I know the all the crossbow threads still exist.
There was one that was removed from the top of the page as a new crossbow thread had taken over and was the more active thread.
Use the little search tab in the top right hand corner, I'm sure you will find what you are looking for.

Oh I know it is still there but the constant action seems to have fizzled . I thought ,rather than post on it and restart it for no good reason other than to stir it up again I would just do a little side stir

I agree it should be allowed , but there are others who disagree ( some vehemently disagree)

lol! I wasn't speaking on the "history" of crossbows but kind of making a joke... Like "A long bow married a rifle and they had a bunch of little baby Excalibers"

Ah, lol, okay. You'd be surprised how many people think it actually happened that way.

Careful gentlemen , I don't think we're allowed to talk about Cross bows anymore... not politically correct.
