Have at er hjd, should do a fine job with a good shot placement. Just don't expect it to reach way out there and drop fur. Keep shots near the 200yd mark and it will perform nicely.

I would agree with ruger300. I've never owned a 22 Hornet, but there is no reason why it wouldn't work on coyotes at moderate ranges and given good shot placement. Do you handload? That would give you a lot more bullet options.

of course it will work!!
ive used a 17hmr to 300wby and the results are the same.
the gun to use is the one which you know the POI at any yardage.
good luck and blast a lot.

I got a .22 hornet that I have used on coyotes and yeah it works fine.I have only had to shoot out to 100yds at the most but it has more punch than given credit for.I would say it is really effective to 150yds and at 200 it would have to be a well placed shot.It should work for you just fine.

I carry a 77/22 in hornet all the time. Works very well to 150 yds or so. I hunt with my buddy who is using a Sako 22/220 so we position him for the longer shots and I take the ones we call in close. Topped with a compact Leupold 2-7X it is a sweet little rig to carry.

I don't think there is a factory hornet load that has 200 yards of reliable coyote gun 125 maybe 150 with the pointed 45's, but inside that range you should be OK, those stubby hornet heads loose what they had really fast. I had my hornet converted to k-hornet so I can shoot 50 grain heads at a reasonable velocity (~2800) the better BC's and more bullet wieght give the same hitting power at near 200 yards that a factory load has at 125.

But no solo shots with that load yet just a couple of finishers.

Question for you reloaders
My load has developed a problem, I am using lil' gun and since the weather has cooled off I am getting wierd results. one round works just fine and the next looks like a near grenade of an over pressure. I went through 1/2 pound of powder shooting gophers with this load (13 gr of lil'gun under a 50 gr head max listed by hodgdon) and no problems.

I had a older Sako .22 Hornet with the .2225 bore and it worked on yotes out to 125 yards or so.Never tried it farther but they would jump up and bite themselves and run 20 feet and lay down .Case closed and nearly imposible to find the bullet hole..............Harold

Default 22 hornet

My brother uses a model seven 223 and i use 10/22 with 25 round clip for backup in case we got a runner. Does the job, but fur quality is like a screen door.
