Badger

Badger was 6" good and solid where we were today

DustDee 11-24-2014 12:17 PM

Stopped by Lee Lake (Crowsnest Pass) and there was around 5" - 6" of good ice. Didn't have time to do any fishing, just a quick stop to check the ice thickness.

yes keho does have beautiful clear 6-8" ice at the inlet. however, if you drew a line from the west inlet straight east to the first bay south of the outlet, everything south is super bubbly white ice. if you stepped on ice at the boat launch you will likely go thru, best to start your entry a bit back and test drill onto where you want to fish. the outlet was easily punctured at shore with the usual stretches of open water (not enough or close enough to jig thru. other than that, the ice at the outlet (pray for no snow) is really beaut ice in colour, just needs a few days of ultra cold to get over to the thicker bits.

Does anyone know how the ice is around Grande Prairie? More specifically Sturgeon and Snipe?

Bigdad013 11-27-2014 06:01 PM

Thinking of hitting chain lakes this weekend, anyone been out there the last couple of days. Ice thickness.....

The Fisherman Guy 11-27-2014 07:09 PM

Badger 7"

Travers 5.5" - There is a heave with open water that extends from the north wing dam at the spillway, west to the other side of the lake. Ice is not safe around this heave.

Snipe was froze over on November 13.

Anyone have a report on Blood Indian?

Someone posted on IFish that there was 6 inches of Ice on Sturgeon. One person posted Nov. 18 and another on Nov. 30. A fair bit of snow on top as well. I haven't been out yet, but should be good to go!

CritterCommander 12-02-2014 11:21 AM

On Sturgeon you can see dark patchs where the flood water has been rising, but with this -30ish weather and winds, you would think the ice has got to be getting good. Haven't seen anyone on the lake yet though. Snipe in my experience is warmer for some reason and if Sturgeon has 6inchs, Snipe will only have 4.

x2 snipe is notorious for eating vehicles...careful on that one.

Lac Ste Anne

November 30 - 80 feet from dock towards the island is about 7" of clear solid ice....along with a foot of snow on top

kevinhits 12-02-2014 12:26 PM

Clear Lake by Stavely....8 inches of clear ice...Partly snow covered

Bassett 12-02-2014 02:03 PM

Chikakoo 5" or so of ice about dead center of lake. 16" of snow and about 4" of slush under that.

Fishin' Fool 12-02-2014 05:35 PM

8" of good ice at Wab town. The flooding has begun as well. It's not really bad yet, but I'm not optimistic.

I am headed there tomorrow, how was the fishing?

gbart 12-03-2014 02:37 AM

Any info about the ice conditions at Crawling Valley Res. would be appreciated.

Thanks

Fishin' Fool 12-03-2014 06:47 AM

I was 50-60 yards past the end of the dock in about 8 feet of water. Saw millions of <4" perch, caught the only 2 pike I saw( both between 5 & 10 lbs), and lost a 3rd on the tip-up. Fished about 4 hours.

Sounds good thanks for the info. I should be out there Saturday hopefully.

tonypower 12-03-2014 01:41 PM

Just got back from wabamun. Now I remember why I wait till you can drive on. Quite the workout with all the gear. Ice was 8". Fishing was pretty good. I got three, biggest being 8lbs and missed two on the jaw jacker. All my fish were caught with a jigging rap. I was only fishing for three hours.

Leduc Area

Just wondering if anyone has been out on any of the lakes in the Leduc area?

Cory1 12-05-2014 09:25 AM

Mcgregor Lake

7" of clear ice by the rockwall on the north side.
There's an ice heave with open water underneath right along the rockwall, so I'd suggest walking from the campground instead of down the wall into the ice.

capper 12-05-2014 10:16 AM

Anyone with ice info on the lac la bitch area

Perchalot 12-05-2014 12:08 PM

Coal lake

1 Attachment(s)
Coal lake: 9 1/2" clear ice. 4" snow on top.
Aproximatly 100 yards off boat launch.
