Big dog was 38 lbs they won $390.00, little dog was 18 lbs they also won $390 bucks. 89 dogs were checked in at the hall, only a few teams didnt come back to hall for supper. 41 door prizes, varied from trailcams, binoculars, winchester, bushnell gear, coyote decoy. lots of stuff. Not realistic to get 15 dogs in a day especially when you see 30. all it takes is a few doubles and triples comin to the call and they add up quick.
Seeing 30 in one day???????? Never in my life. That's impressive..

Guess I should of been looking closer on here prior to the hunt instead of scouting and getting permission for the derby. Oh well, it all worked out. Thanks again Trev for the great contest. Was a great day.

it's like anything on this site. If you post up saying you shot a big deer while wearing sitka clothing and swarovski binos and all of a sudden you are a poacher who shot it off the road out of your $65,000 truck on posted land..

If you actually get out and call in areas where there are coyotes getting 15 in a day is very possible.

All dogs are inspected, this is the 7th year, try pass a day old coyote on the guys inspecting them. Good luck with that, very easy to tell. There was numerous teams that could of got 15 dogs had they not shot like crap. If your serious about competing in a derby you actually get out and pound as many stands as you can and pre scout days before, looking for tracks and howling to locate to see what patches of bush there in. The team that won layed 4 down in under 20 minutes on 1 stand. When you can have a few good stands like that they add up pretty quick. This derby is all about the fun of coyote hunting, that is why we put every dollar back into door prizes, you dont need to shoot a dog to actually win a very good prize. 42 teams and 41 door prizes we had this year, along with a huge supper. I dont hear any complaints from anyone that has ever entered, there all impressed and very happy. See ya guys next yr.

Good work to all the shooters! Were the wolves taken during the derby also?

No the wolves are from my dad and my uncle. We have always had a prize set aside for if someone does shoot a wolf, it hasnt happened yet but one day it will, theres no shortage of them around. Good work to the shooters is right, save a few deer this year.
