"Stoat" / "Ermine" / "Short-tailed Weasel" - they are all the same creature , kinda like cougar / puma / mountain lion ... but there is also the "Least Weasel" - need to see the tail and have a better prespective on the creatures size to reliably distinguish the 2 species of "weasel"

Strange place to see a weasel. Hard to scale the size, but I'm betting Least weasel.

Were you fishing at Brazeau Dam? Just wondering.

I had a weasel follow me down a cut-line (along the trees that were cut) for a good 100 yards or a bit more.

my parents used to have an issue with weasels getting in the house. Weirdest thing. Cleaning the vents once I found one who had taken a fall from the upstairs floor vents to the downstairs floor vents. About a year later I saw one in the house, tricky guy to live trap. Eventually found where they were getting in, sealed it up.

But I gotta say they weren't unpleasant house-guests, they mind their own business, didn't stink as I thought they would, and kept the mice that would otherwise have got in the hole at bay. Released him in our camp to work on the shack's rodent population. Seems to have done a good job...
