Default synthetic oil in a new 115hp. merc

hey all you merc owners I need some advise .. I just picked up my new lund 1775 impact with a 115 4 stroke merc. and I,m told it,s a good idea to use synthetic oil . my last boat had a115 2 stroke hp Johnson and I used a good quality oil and never had any problems in the 20 years I ran it. I have never used a synthetic oil in any of my rvs, boats quads etc. I just used good oils and changed it more often. I would appreciate any feed back thanks don

As I understand it, after your initial break in period with regular oil (which is recommended) synthetic has no disadvantages at all other than cost.

Synthetic is superior in every way, easier starts, takes longer to break down, won't suspend particles, lubricates more thoroughly, provides more power (with less friction yet higher compression) and reduces overall wear on the engine itself.

Many modern engine oils are semi-synthetic and come at a regular oil price. Even the full synthetic oils go on sale - and that's the time I grab a few bottles.

I have used it and I don't regret it. I use synthetic in all of my 4 strokes (boat, vehicles, lawnmower, etc....).
