As good as any, that's for sure.

Rocky Mountain, Elk101, Wapiti River, Phelps are all good.
Comes more down to the tongue and its operator.
I buy a variety of each and throw in the truck every summer. By september I usually have 1 or 2 favorites and the rest get benched.

Rocky Mountain contender is a good one to have in the pack. Its a good all around call for most situations.

Different mouths, different fits. That includes the depths of the dome or diameter of the inner hard plastic portion on a at diaphragm.
Tried about 8 of em l brands and fits and shockingly Primos white single reed is my money maker.

I like the Rocky Mountain and Elk 101 diaphragms. You'll have to try a few to find one you like as some can require more air pressure than others and can produce different sounds.
Pro tip is to find one you like and then buy a few of them for hunting season and TEST them before you go into the field. Last year mine died in the middle of an elk hunt and my backup didn't give the same sound as the latex had a wrinkle in it. It's a little more cost to get 2-3 of the same ones and test them but well worth it.

I bought a 4 pack of various ones from Cabelas they were okay. Bought a Rocky Mountain “Elk 101” one and it’s awesome. Sounds so much better. Will practice till the season comes and buy another one as backup.

I like the sleazy cow call by big bulls. Most of the rocky calls work great also. Have called lots of Elk with the red primos reed as well

I use Phelps Pink, Grey, White and Green are my go to. If I had to pick just one it's definitely the Pink.

I've tried several different brands of reeds without any success. I think it's because the roof of my mouth is to narrow for them to fit properly, so I just use the primos terminator and/or their green or orange cow calls.

Have you tried trimming the tabs? You can get a “custom” fit by doing so. The BRO guys even recommend taking scissors to your brand new mouth tab to get the prefect fit.
