Check out this chart www.cpcartridge.com/7mmB.htm Just my opinion shoot somthing 162gr or above 175 Barns TSX or Nosler partition either will give great penetration reduce damage and give good down range energy. Some of the lighter bullets 140s do unbelievable damage to an animal.

And some such as the 140gr tsx will result in similar damage compared to a heavier bullet, but with a flatter trajectory and less recoil..

The 140 TSX would be a hell of a choice.....

Main thing when borrowing someone else's gun is shoot it and learn it before going out on the hunt....

What does your friend shoot through it? I'd guess that he/she knows what it likes the most.....and I'd say that MOST pills from a 7 RM will do the trick on a moose nicely....

Here's another vote for a TSX bullet, I'd probably go 140 gr also in a 7mm mag.

I use the TSX by barnes as well and we can discus the flat trjectory of the lighter bullet but no matter how you slice it down range energy and trajectory suffer with the lighter bullet.

Heck if we are avoiding recoil and wanting flat 243 with 85gr TSX is awsome and the performance is great for a light bullet.

I also stand by the Accubond by nosler they hold together and I dont think you can find a better BC out there.

Given all that the Grand Slam will serve you well.

Opinions are like ___ oh well you know ___we all have one lol

Good luck and straight shooting

For 1000 yard target shooting the heavier bullet does have an advantage, but the original poster is asking for a bullet to hunt moose with.

Using the chart below.

http://www.cpcartridge.com/7mmB.htm

Out to 400 yards the 140 gr still shoots flatter with comparable energy to the 175gr bullets. In fact the 140gr x still has more energy than the 175gr x at 400 yards.

Exactly why I questioned your last post. Why would you make a statement that contradicts the information on your own link?

I can be judged for taking the long shots but I havent lost animals or allowed them to suffer and 400+ wont keep me from what I want.

Thompson Shooting Systems has some cool shots on the web

I will shoot to 500 yards myself under perfect conditions, and at that distance there is virtually no difference.By 700 yards where the difference in trajectory might be worth considering, the 7mm(assuming 7mmremmag) in question is no longer producing the velocity necessary for reliable expansion with most bullets. It also isn't producing the energy desired for hunting a game animal as large as a moose.
