Default There is gouging and then......

.... there is shameless gouging. Good Lord, no shame. 3000 big ones.

The market will get what it demands.

He hasn’t gouged anyone yet.

If someone actually pays that, they allowed themselves to be gouged.

however Barnum said it best there's one born every minute

I had to get out my calculator for that. $3000 for 16 lbs is $187.50 per pound.

Well that seems quite reasonable. For caviar.

There was someone on here or CGN that was asking $850 8lbs of IMR 4350…. That over a $100 per lb. The last time I bought IMR 4350 I think I paid less then half that and it wasn’t that long ago.
And I thought that was bad.. Maybe in a few months if the price keeps going up I will have a few pounds of Varget for sale! Lol.

I'm starting to think all the ammunition I have may be my best investment for retirement yet! Some of the classic Macallan Fine Oak scotch I put away ten years ago has also gone insane on auctions, so, I may not have to resort to eating my dogs before it's all said and done.

Free market. No one is forcing us to buy or sell. Kind of like saying because I bought my house 20 years ago I'm gouging the buyers because I'm not letting it go for what I paid. No one on this site who owns their own house is gonna say that, I bet. If they are going to say something that ridiculous, I'll buy their house for what they originally paid for.

I had a bottle of nice scotch (I think, not sure but neighbor said it was). I gave it away to my Calgary co-workers when I quit my last job. The guy I gave it to said he wasn't going to share, it ended up in his liquor cabinet.

How bad do you want it? Simple as that. If it guaranteed you 5 years of shooting a favorite load, it’s possibly a good investment. Otherwise you gotta wait and hope like everyone else

I paid 419.00 for a 8 lb of IMR 4350 at PR just a week or so ago. ($52.38/lb) They had some H4350 too but it was all presold and it was more at $499 if I remember correctly.

The reason I found that post is I was checking up on a guy that was asking 1000 for and 8lber of Varget yesterday. The ad is gone now so I assume he got it.

I guess it's not gouging if someone is stupid enough to pay for it.

Maybe the government should take over the ammunition and components trade so the price is fair for everyone.

They would just impose another tax, so nobody could afford it.

That's what I was thinking, it's a typo and he's actually asking $300.00. Maybe not, but that just seems too ridiculous to be true.

Many of you guys have obviously managed in retail. Rule 1 is don't charge a standard markup but what the market will bear. I have managed in several types of retail and yes some does not make sense but it sure does to bean counters.

Last powder I bought was June of 2021 and I paid 37$ pound. Saw the same powder last week at 47$ pound. IMR4198.

Exactly what it is ,pure greed. He probably took it down over his phone ringing with insults ,deserves ever bad call.

For those that don't think it's gouging then you may just have the same integrity as that seller............NONE.

Happy Easter

Relax nobody said that, doesn't make it any less of a money grab.

It’s not a money grab. It’s called price elasticity of demand. Trying to control that is a socialist behaviour.

Again I didn't see one post saying the price should be controlled, not one.

Exclamation You don't have to like it.

Looks like a simple case of an astute seller who understands supply and demand market economics. What's wrong with that?

Joe's (the seller) price for the 16 lbs. of H4350 isn't that far off the prices bid for powder on the Extreme Range auction site; we were talking about it just last month, see link below. So what if he decided to up ante, cut out the auction commission, and see if anyone with a little jingle in their pocket really wanted the powder without any wait time. Don't like it? Don't buy it.

Anybody who thinks there is a problem with this better carefully consider their position on used truck prices when they are selling one in this hot market. Used trucks selling for new prices is the same thing.

All things are progressing as expected.
The only thing is the depth and breadth of the shortages, they far exceed anything envisioned or previously encountered.

If you failed to heed the previous warnings about these times and happenings, guess what?
You get to pay the piper.

Worst auction site going imo. I'd like to know who some of the guys bidding are but they sure as heck don't frequent any of the popular gun sales sites. Or retail ones for that matter. Or they're all 500 miles from anything gun related in Nunavut.

$1425.00 + gst + $50 shipping if you aren't living in Saskatoon for a high miles Sako A7 25-06??

Sako isn’t taking orders this year. Apparently it’s going to take them that long to catch up on the orders they already have. So yep, if you want one, you are gonna pay
