Powder prices
All I can say is wow. If you don’t find any in stock at retailers the prices people are charging/paying are absolutely insanity.

All components are up from 30% to 50%, and some even more. I just bought an order of shotshells, and they are up 30% as well. These days, a person is happy just finding what he needs to keep shooting, trying to find bargains is pretty much futile.

I stocked up awhile ago, but I keep my eyes open. There are still some deals around.
Not a lot of deals... and some are just "good" prices for right now.

What's being charged is nothing surprising but what's being payed is! I myself don't really want to sell powder and primers but at $120 per thousand and $90 a lb then yes I have all kinds of powder and primers for sale.

Seen Varget for $180 per pound
Large rifle primers $175 per 1000
Crazy out there right now.
Been loading my new 270 weatherby lately and wanted to try a different powder, but nope, no dice on finding any of it, so I am sticking with IMR7828SSC as I have it on hand. So changed up the bullets

I’ve got a pretty good supply of R22,R26, H1000, 7828ssc and varget. The only thing I’m starting to get low on is H4831. It’s not very long ago a 1000 primers would run you $50. Now last week I paid $132/1000.

I was shocked last summer, when I paid $335 for 8lbs of powder now a friend just paid $445 for 8lbs, and the situation is only getting worse. But it is just as bad for factory loads, my target shotshells went from $80 a flat two years ago , to $110 last year, and they aren't being made this year, so I paid $125 this year for an equivalent load that was on sale. Even the crappy Challenger factory target loads jumped to $110 per flat.

One of the perks of only getting into hunting and shooting in the past 6 years. There’s been either a shortage or an price jump since o started. It’s just normal in my mind
I do wish I had gotten in reloading a few years ago however. I can’t see it getting easier for the near future

That’s the same with me. I just started but there’s not a chance I’d be paying 800 dollars for powder

Why would you avoid them, they provide a way for their customers to sell their excess supplies. Buyers win, sellers win, retailer wins.

I have no desire to play a part in driving prices up even higher. When these auctions sell product at such high prices, it encourages businesses to increase prices, because someone will buy it. The end result is higher prices for everyone.

i get what your saying elk; but you can’t have it both ways in a capitalist society.
i guess we could get the gov to regulate pricing of reloading supplies so it’s easier for people to stay stocked up.....🙄

It's an auction for everyone who wants to sell something hunting or fishing related it's not just a store auction. Sorry I should have clarified that. Lots of used guns etc.

My total Varget is just under 40#. I have 5 jugs. The one that's open has about a pound missing.
When I see the advertised prices that some people are asking (I'm not sure if they're getting), I almost makes me want to put up three jugs for $1000 each. Just to see if there would be any bites.
I paid $339.00 for each one (plus GST). Shipping was free from Higginson's since it was over 24#.
opps....I guess I can't ask that silly price now...everyone knows what I paid.

Lots of people have tons of powder, it's normal for high volume shooters to have that much on hand even before the shortages were looming. Others saw this coming and stocked up and they ain't parting with it at any price. Its the guys who only buy a pound or two of powder when they are close to running out that seem to be caught unaware and the scalpers are taking advantage of them and so are retailers now.

Haha from the volume of shooting you do (based on the reloading thread) I had no doubt you had a lot. I do a fraction of what you do but still have 25 lbs of what I use for my 45/70, and 16 lbs for my hunting rifle.
At $100 a lb though.... hmmmm. Nah I am good what would I shoot then?
